The actors who arrive in the train are going to put on a performance of La Regenta the emblematic and critical classic about life in Oviedo in 1885. But in the present age when the actors burst onto the scene the effects reach beyond the stage, changing the normal unfolding of events. The mayor's wife falls into the arms of the leading actor, or rather his character, so passions and delusions that have remained more or less covered until then rise to the surface with all the consequences. A depressed actor, a furious actress, a smug director, a local journalist, a jolly mother and an angel who is skulking around the city set off entertaining, dramatic events until the curtain falls suddenly and unexpectedly.
