Sam Gifford (Wagner) is a young, successful cotton planter who lacks compassion for others, especially his own sharecroppers. But once in combat, he answers to a sadistic officer (Crawford), and must rely on the friendship of a "cropper" (Ebsen).

Tense from start to finish, how can anyone watch this without being taken in by the tension? So realistic, even down to the useless bullying officer. Humanity through and through. Never heard of this film before, but very glad you uploaded it, thanks.

This one of the worst WWII movies I ever saw. Reminded me of the cr_ppy vietnam movies that were in the 70's. All were a bunch of junkies, drunkes or pot heads, left a real bad taste in mouth.
