Ocitáme se ve 23. století, deset let poté, co se John Sheridan (Bruce Boxleitner) stal prezidentem Mezihvězdné aliance a připravuje osudové sjednocení Babylonu 5, které by mohlo zachránit Zemi před blížící se zkázou. Katastrofě však může zabránit jen tím, že sleví ze svých zásad. Plukovnice Elizabeth Lochleyová (Tracy Scogginsová) se zase musí postavit nečekanému vetřelci, díky jehož přítomnosti se Babylon 5 stává volným přístavem na křižovatce mezi nebem a peklem.
