Interesting and somehow dated American film with British actors. Reginald Owen, slightly chubby and wearing a plain double breasted suit (no deerstalkers' hat, no Inverness coat), looks more like an amiable family father or a bourgeois bank clerk, rather than the brusque, slim, stony and introverted Holmes almost invariably portrayed since Basil Rathbone.
Image has very few scratches, but is regrettably blurred. Although quite pristine, sound is out of sync: it runs 3.6 seconds ahead of the image (i.e. 3 seconds and 6/10ths); a player such as GOM --which comes with a function to delay (or, eventually, advance) the audio-- should do the trick.
