...A group of Hell's Angels terrorize the young bikini clad girls in a Northern California town. Their parents are helpless. The townsfolk live in fear. The local police are powerless. The only hope is a loner no one knows anything about -- a half-breed Vietnam veteran named Billy Jack.
Tom Laughlin had written the script for Billy Jack in the 1950s but couldn't get anyone interested in a film about Indians -- half-breed or otherwise. So Tom toned down the Indian and political themes and wrote Born Losers, the first film the Billy Jack character ever appeared in.
Born Losers was the most successful independent film of its time. That success made Billy Jack possible. But even with all the success of Billy Jack, for many fans Born Losers remains their favorite Billy Jack film.

Tom Laughlin's stoic character is perfect for the era it depicts. Those who want to scrutinize were either not a part of this slice of history in our country. Or one of the ever rising anti-american, psuedo-anarchist, new age modern socialist groups that should renounce their citizenship and move to 'greener pastures'!
