The Girl Who Leapt Through Time

This movie is strange and beautiful at the same time.
My own two cents on the Auntie Witch theory... Auntie Witch is not Makoto. There's no way for her to be Makoto, since Makoto didn't have any time jumps left, and had no reason to jump into the past that far. Besides, it's pretty well indicated in the beginning of the movie that both Makoto's mother and grandmother know Aunty Witch well (probably her mom's sister). The 'lost love' thing was merely a plot device that explained how Auntie knew what Makoto was going through, and to help encourage her. There might be some connection with her boyfriend... maybe he was another time traveler, and he was also looking for the painting, and maybe that inspired her to restore it, but there isn't enough evidence to draw that kind of conclusion. No, I believe the movie left us on that positive note to inform us that they will meet in the future, just as Chiaki promised. The only issue I have with that is... won't she be much older than him then?

Great movie, i have watched this way too many times and yes i always cry.
For all you who like to believe in that whole "auntie witch" theory. You can forget it, and heres why.In the picture it clearly shows that neither of the males in the picture look like chiaki. Infact aunti witch looks nothing like makoto for those who are implying makoto is infact aunti witch "but older". As far as her restoring the painting, thats just a simple coincidence. Her talking about time leaping was her clearly explaining what she went through, any adult with half an education knows what time leaping is. woopty freaking doo. And last but not least, the aunti witch's boyfriend in school. What girl hasn't had a love in high school. Better yet if you were an adult like aunti and your niece came to you with these issues, dont you think you'd tell her about your high school past times to help with advice? case closed.

Is there any other good movie like this 1?

Third time watching this, and still makes me cry!
This is such a good movie, But what someone said in the comments earlier about the aunt being her older self makes some sense, Because When I watched it I always wondered why the Aunt knew about time leaping when nobody from the past is supposed to know & the aunt restores the painting! But when she talks about the guy that she fell in love with in high school the picture it doesn't look like Chiaki, So I'm kinda left wondering too?! But, Hey.. This is like one of my top favorites, Some might say it is confusing but I'm kinda glad they didn't spell everything out to you like most movies do, It has it's major twists, and leaves you thinking at the end. ^^ And I really liked Chiaki too, Muhahaha.

HUH?! this makes no sense!!!!! there needs to be a solid conclusion. one that says whether or not they see each other again!
grr! why do movies have to be so complex???? but anyway, they should make a sequel. and yah the aunt could be jjust to say they will never see each other again but he's waiting and she wants to see him too... and if u ask me.. they seem pretty determined.. >.>

I believe they don't meet again as i think Aunt Witch is the girl but older remember at the end she said she'll make sure the painting is made? what was the aunt doing? restoring it. The aunt says a guy in highschool made her a promise to meet again but never came back. If my idea is correct 5/5 Great story i really enjoyed this and i hope you did too!

Of course they see each other again, her secret is to go to him as time goes by as he waits :D That's the whole point of him saying he'll be waiting!!!!
