...A young multi-millionaire (McQueen) who is good at everything and has the Midas touch keeps himself entertained by pushing the limits in sports, business, and the law. He organizes a bank heist by hiring a crew of professional thieves, hoping to keep the heist money and insurance money. A young and extremely clever insurance adjuster (Faye Dunaway) attempts to uncover the scheme before the insurance company has to pay.
The film contains a remarkable scene between McQueen and Dunaway where they are playing chess and talking about the moves as a metaphor for sex.
The film is also the first to use a split scene with two concurrent parts of the story running at the same time.
Directed by the legendary Norman Jewison.
