However the Master is not as dead as the Doctor thinks. The Master's essence escapes and sabotages the TARDIS, the Doctor's time machine causing it to crashland in San Franscisco on December 30th 1999. The Doctor requires a beryllium atomic clock to repair the TARDIS, but is shot as he leaves the Ship. Taken to hospital, the Doctor's seventh regeneration is triggered by a medic, confused by his alien metabolism, while the Master takes over a paramedics body. He needs a Time Lord's body to survive - the Doctors'. Newly regenerated the Doctor must fight to save his own eighth body, and the world when the Master sabotages the TARDIS power-source. By midnight on December 31st 1999, the Earth will be pulled through this power-source, a mini-black hole, and only the Doctor can stop if only he can remember who he is...

It's only a (Tv) movie. And yet Paul McGann will forever be known as the 8th Doctor Who. Even though he's only ever appeared once. And then heard as the Doctor in radio plays. The 7th Doctor, makes a brief appearance, at the beginning of the film. But immediately gets shot, leaving the Tardis. So he's near death, for much of his brief screen time. The idea that the Doctor is half human is something new. That's never ever referred to again, to my knowledge, in the Tv series that follow, starting up again in 2005.

This Tardis' interior reflects what the later Tv series would employ. Not the sterile high tech look of series past. But lots of retro looking knobs and levers, on the center console. So it doesn't have to try and keep up with or best earth's current technology. In this film it looks more 1930s Art Deco of earth.

Very underrated. Especially Eric Roberts who is doing an outstanding impression of Anthony Ainley. I think that it is noce for the Doctor to have a sweetheart (another doctor no less) and I dont mind in the least that he is half human, or his mother was half human or however you choose to interpret it. He looks human and until Billy Hartnell turned into Traughton we all thought he was. So, no hrm, no foul.
