Alfred Hitchcock's greatest film.

Deliberately and adequately shot in black&white, this famous somber Hitchcock's film is based on a story by master-of-the-genre Robert Bloch. A woman (Janet Leigh) steals money from her company and runs away. She stops at Bates Motel, where she will find something far scarier than she was expecting. After a while, her sister (Vera Miles) starts looking for her; she hires a detective (Martin Balsam) who also ends up at the Bates Motel. A nail biting film with a rational explanation at the end. Many scary scenes, very deftly enhanced by a perfect Bernard Herrmann's music (which became a standard for this kind of films). The famous scene with Vera Miles at the basement, near the end, is not to be missed. (This is the only great Psycho movie; avoid all other sequels and remakes)
