Although politicians and energy execs have done their best to quell it, the benefits of biodiesel are real. This documentary (winner of the Grand Jury Prize at Sundance) chronicles Tickell's quest to popularize the untraditional fuel source, citing the environmental and economic advantages the country could reap by adopting it.

America & the world needs to change their fuel for many reasons. Petroleum oil will run out it is inevitable, 30-50 years the supply will be sparse. By reducing the amount of oil used the supply will last longer for things that are truly needed like medical plastics. Most of the plastics could be made from vegetable plastics for our every day lives and they would biodegrade faster.
Using biodiesel with electric hybrid plug-in cars is the way to go, with the minimum of 80mpg as a standard 150mpg for the lighter compact cars with an embedded linux laptop built in to manage maximization. The oil companies, car manufactures & the governments need to implement this, other wise the future will head towards the "Road Warrior" (Mad Max) scenario.
