...Shakespeare's classic tale of romance and tragedy. Two families of Verona, the Montagues and the Capulets, have been feuding with each other for years. Young Romeo Montague goes out with his friends to make trouble at a party the Capulets are hosting, but while there he spies the Capulet's daughter Juliet, and falls hopelessly in love with her. She returns his affections, but they both know that their families will never allow them to follow their hearts.

I love this movie. I watched it for the first time in English class in 9th grade (in 1986). This is the first time I've watched it since then, but this time, my daughter got to enjoy it with me. Despite the fact that this movie was spoken in Old English, my daughter really enjoyed watching it, and actually got into it. Who would think that a 9 year old girl would enjoy a Shakespeare-based movie? lol Of course, I had to get her to turn her head during the "bedroom scene" where Romeo and Juliet were both naked (which she thought that scene would never end. lol). But it was great to enjoy such a classic tale with my daughter. What makes watching the movie even better for me is, I lived in Vicenza, Italy for 3 years when I was a teenager, and had the pleasure of visiting the city of Verona. My family and I got to visit the castles of the Montague's and Capulet's. My grandmother swore Romeo's castle was haunted because her camera started acting up when she tried to use it there. lol
