It's very dramatic, I'll give it that. But far from being the greatest scifi film ever made. And its totally impossible to upset the earth's orbit, so much. Volcanic eruptions have been more powerful, than man-made nuke blasts. The story has that two nukes set off at once, topple the earth. Ok, maybe it could (but not likely). But cause the earth to slow down and spiral toward the sun, Never! This film was some anti-nuke propaganda of the time. And I don't disagree with it's stand. But it was definitely overkill. And has nothing to do with prophesying climate change. That's just silly scaremonger talk. These extreme future scenarios are always possible, for the most fanatic activists. Even if they violate natural laws.

Great film, one of the best sci fi films ever made (and as relevant today as it was 50 years ago)
