...An alternative rock/post grunge band from Penn. Don’t cry much -it's extremely rare, but can’t help getting some tears when I hear this song. The lyrics are constantly misunderstood! Dedicated to Barbara Lewis (19), high school friend of the band killed by a drunk driver fleeing cops after a robbery. The lyrics are mostly analogy by Ed. Barb donated several organs, including her heart. She was close with Ed & the guys in LIVE. Yes, Ed is speaking of circle of life, but particularly how Barb's death gave new life to many. The angel, “the baby down the hall, the pale blue eyes” (of Barb), the pain ("confusion")... are all Ed's interpretation of the impact of Barb's life and death. ‘Our (Barb’s brother in law’s) family has become close with the most genuine and caring man who is still alive today (over 10 years later), who has Barb's heart beating in his chest!.’ Her liver was donated to 10 month old baby ("baby down the hall”). "Lightning Crashes" literally lives on. In the 90’s when on tour, Live dedicated this song to the victims of the Columbine High tragedy (more of whom than is admitted, were actually killed by SWAT, not Harris & Klebold). After the OK. City bombings (yes, there was more than 1 bomb - “inside job"), 1995, a local radio station mixed the song with news paper and audio clips of Pres Clinton and Governor Keating responding to attack, along with other sounds (ambulance/fire engine sirens).
